21:12 “Come, have breakfast,” Jesus said. ¹  But none of the disciples dared to ask him, “Who are you?” because they knew it was the Lord.

4:52 So he asked them the time ²  when his condition began to improve, ³  and ⁴  they told him, “Yesterday at one o’clock in the afternoon ⁵  the fever left him.”

[21:12]  ¹ tn Grk “said to them.” The words “to them” are omitted because it is clear in context to whom Jesus was speaking, and the words are slightly redundant in English.

[4:52]  ² tn Grk “the hour.”

[4:52]  ³ tn BDAG 558 s.v. κομψότερον translates the idiom κομψότερον ἔχειν (komyoteron ecein) as “begin to improve.”

[4:52]  ⁴ tn The second οὖν (oun) in 4:52 has been translated as “and” to improve English style by avoiding redundancy.
